Q1. Why is Twitter still a great marketing tool for small business owners?

Twitter has 326 million monthly active users and 500 million tweets posted every single day. It is a relevant marketing tool that will help you get seen and heard!

With Twitter you have the ability to connect with your ideal customer in real-time. That is pure gold. It’s a great listening tool that will help you learn about your customers – what they like and dislike and any suggestions they might have, etc.

Q2. What are your tips for growing a relevant and engaged Twitter community?

Be Consistent.

The one thing I found that separates the high profile users on Twitter from everyone else is being consistent. If you want to stand out, get on Twitter every day and take time to connect and engage with your community.

Tweet every day – a minimum five times a day.

One of the best ways to attract attention on Twitter is tweeting every day. You need to be seen and heard. I recommend spreading tweets throughout the day using tools like Buffer, Hootsuite and Social Jukebox.

Go through notifications daily & respond.

You should view your “Notifications” as the jackpot of Twitter. Think about this: every notification is a tweet from someone who mentions you by name. They are pointing you out. Reply back!

Engage daily.

The most important thing you can do on Twitter is engage. Think of it as one big happy community that connects you with millions of people. I like to view Twitter as a giant cocktail party. Spend time every day engaging in conversations.

Q3. How did you get started with selling your first social media and video workshops?

The best way to start selling your workshops and courses is through email marketing as well as social media, especially Twitter. I have found organic promotion and word-of-mouth marketing works best.

Last year I launched my Video Like A Rockstar mastermind program using word-of-mouth marketing. It was a beta group of 31 amazing women who wanted to up their video marketing. After that successful launch I took all the feedback and made it better.

I got my best results selling my Video Like A Rockstar program using Twitter marketing. Videos, GIFs and emojis worked extremely well. Video testimonials from my students converted well. My best advice is to experiment and try things to see what works.

Twitter has a little known feature called Media Studio. You can upload videos and add metadata including a call-to-action link. This is incredibly helpful in your Twitter marketing of products and services.

Q4. What are your top tips for social media managers to secure leads for social media management via Twitter? How can they stand out?

  • Share engaging content.
  • Be concise. Keep it short and focused.
  • Use images, videos and GIFs to make your tweet stand out.
  • Use a relevant or branded hashtag.

Q5. We love #TwitterSmarter! What are your tops tips for getting the most out of participating in Twitter chats?

I love Twitter chats! We just finished my weekly, always fun #TwitterSmarter chat.

Twitter chats like this are the best way to expand your network and connect with like-minded people. It’s where you’ll find your tribe. And where topics resonate with you.

My top tips are:

  • Be respectful of everyone.
  • Introduce yourself at the beginning.
  • For Q&A chats, answer with A1 for question 1, A2 for question 2 and so on.
  • End each tweet with the chat hashtag.
  • The point of the chat is to be social.
  • Engage and have fun!

Make a goal of participating in at least one Twitter chat each week. The key is to show up, be present and share your two cents.

Here’s a list of the best social media and marketing Twitter chats.

I could probably name at least a hundred colleagues of mine that I’ve met from a Twitter chat. It’s that powerful.

Q6. As a champion of video marketing, what are your top tips for using video to get noticed by the right people?

Twitter video is one of the most underutilized features yet it’s one of the best ways to stand out.

You can post a video on Twitter that is up to 2 minutes and 20 seconds long using the native mobile app.

In 2017 I started an initiative called #VideoReplyDay to encourage people to use videos in their tweets. You can check it out here.

I encourage you to take time today to go through your notifications and reply to some of the tweets with a video like this.

Twitter has a little known feature called Media Studio. You can upload videos and add metadata including a call-to-action link.

Tweets with videos are six times more likely to be retweeted than tweets with photos, and three times more likely to be retweeted than tweets with GIFs.

Q7. Looking at your journey as successful entrepreneur and working parent, what advice would you give to people who’re starting out?
